The HP ProBook 4530s is one of the most well-rounded business notebooks in its class. It offers a stylish design, a tough build, and plenty of power.

Outfitted with a 2.3-GHz Intel Core i5-2410M processor and 4GB of RAM, the ProBook 4530s breezed through our performance tests. Its PCMark Vantage score of 6,220 is just over 800 points above the mainstream category average, and it was almost on par with the similarly configured Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E420s (2.3-GHz Intel Core i5-2410M, 4GB of RAM).

CPU:

Hewlett-Packard’s ProBook 4530s is a budget-minded 15.6-inch business laptop. It’s based on Intel’s “Sandy Bridge” processors and features an integrated graphics chip.

The HP ProBook 4530s is a good choice for small business users, thanks to a solid mix of components, strong security software, and a decent chassis. Although it’s not as fast as the Toshiba Tecra R850 or the Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E420s, its component mix makes for long battery life and excellent multimedia performance.

The 15.6-inch LED-backlit screen has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and is rated at 200 nits. It sports a matte treatment and has a wide viewing angle, but moving off horizontally degrades picture quality.

RAM:

If you’re looking for a notebook that can handle everyday business tasks, the HP ProBook 4530s might be just the right fit. This brushed-aluminum 15-inch machine boasts a powerful 2.3-GHz Intel Core i5-2410M processor and a fast 500GB 7,200-rpm hard drive.

The PCMark Vantage test rated the ProBook 4530s’ performance at 6,220 points, well above the mainstream category average. That’s more than twice as fast as a similarly configured Toshiba Tecra R850 (2.3-GHz Intel Core i5-2410M, 4GB of RAM) and the Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E420s (4GB of RAM).

Graphics:

The ProBook 4530s features an integrated Intel GMA HD 3000 GPU. This is sufficient for playing games at low resolution and quality settings, though 3D gaming enthusiasts may wish to consider a dedicated graphics card.

The CPU, graphics, and hard drive are sized to provide ample performance for office work. For a more demanding user, the range of options includes a wide selection of operating systems and additional components, including UMTS and Blu-ray burners.

Audio:

The HP ProBook 4530s comes with a pair of speakers above the keyboard that belts out a decent amount of audio. But, it lacks the punchiness of a laptop like the Toshiba Tecra R850 or the bass that you’d expect from a high-end computer such as a ThinkPad Edge E420s.

The ProBook’s 3.6 x 2.1-inch touchpad, made by Synaptics, clicks softly and offers good travel. Two-finger scrolling through documents felt jumpy, though, and we’d have liked to see some kind of sensitivity control.

Webcam:

The HP ProBook 4530s is a powerhouse of a laptop. This nifty piece of hardware is packed with features such as the latest in USB 3.0 technology. A built-in HD webcam, and a suite of impressively designed apps.

If you’re in the market for a new laptop, you can take your pick from the many options on the market today. The best part is that it won’t cost you a fortune. One of the most important things you can do to maximize your buck is to keep your hardware up to date with the latest drivers. This can be done in a few simple steps using a reliable driver update utility like Driver Talent.

Network:

The network is the connection between two or more computers. Allowing them to share resources, files, or even an internet connection. It’s a common feature in many homes and businesses.

The Internet is an example of a network that connects millions of people worldwide. But networks can also be very complex.

There are four main types of networks, and it’s important to understand the differences between them. These include physical connections, wireless connections, client-server networks, and peer-to-peer networks.
