Epson Perfection V600 Driver Review:

As the name suggests, this flatbed scanner is primarily intended for photo prints and documents. But it also features a film holder for slides and negatives. So, the official Epson Perfection V600 Driver can be downloaded from this page.

Instead of paying a lab to scan your film, why not do it yourself? Luckily, it’s not as hard as you might think.

Easy Photo Fix:

The V600’s high resolution and advanced features make it a superior choice for home or office use. Its built-in transparency unit allows you to scan 35mm slides and negatives as well as medium-format film, while the included DIGITAL ICE technology can eliminate the appearance of dust, scratches, tears, and creases in photos.

The scanner also has an energy-efficient ReadyScan LED light source that can reduce power consumption and provides fast scanning times. It includes ABBYY FineReader Sprint Plus OCR software, allowing you to convert scanned documents into editable text.

Despite a few flaws, like the flimsy film trays and dated-looking software (sorry Windows 10 users), this is still an excellent photo scanner. At 6400 dpi, the scans are crisp and detail-rich. They lack the richness and vibrance of the best flatbeds, but they’re still very good for online and social media use.

ReadyScan LED light source:

A scanner’s light source illuminating two-dimensional objects as they pass under the sensor to record an image is usually a cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL). They consume more power than other types of lamps and produce more heat, which has negative effects on both the environment and customer electricity bills.

The V600 uses an LED light to replace the more wasteful CCFLs, which can reduce scanning times and power consumption by around half. It also takes less time to reach a stable light level than older models.

The V600’s lid opens to reveal a film scanner with two reversible templates that sit on the flatbed and align with pin locations on the glass platen. The A tab on the first template scans 35mm filmstrips, while C does mount slides and B is for medium format. This is a great feature for photo enthusiasts or anyone wanting to digitize their images quickly and without fuss. It’s also compatible with SilverFast Ai Studio 8, a leading image processing program that comes included.

Faster scans:

The V600 Photo is a workhorse scanner that can quickly digitize photos, prints, 35mm film, and slides. Its maximum resolution of 6400 x 9600 dpi allows for enlargements up to 17 x 22″. It also features Digital Ice for dust and scratch removal.

The device is equipped with a set of function buttons that are operated with just one touch: With one button the scan software can generate a searchable PDF file and another can automatically send the scanned image to an e-mail program or printer. So, the device can also be connected directly to a PC with the included cable.

The device comes with a full software suite for Windows, Mac OS X 10.3.9 through 10.6, and Linux. A complete version of SilverFast is also available as an upgrade, which increases the number of optimizing options. The Epson Perfection V600 Photo is a workhorse designed to quickly turn analog documents and photographs into high-quality digital images. It has good archiving features, a large flatbed, and a set of film holders for 35mm and medium format.

Easy OCR:

Unlike most flatbed scanners, the V600 doesn’t require a warm-up period, thanks to the energy-efficient ReadyScan LED light source. That means it can get started scanning right away, without any wasted power. It also uses less power for each scan, delivering higher productivity and lower operating costs.

The built-in Photo Restoration feature works well to restore faded colors on snapshot prints. There’s a handy feature to remove dust and scratches on film scans, too. However, if you’re scanning more than one print or transparency at the same time, the software doesn’t automatically separate them.

Bundled software is pretty typical for a professional-grade scanner. The utility is available in four modes with increasing levels of control: Full Auto simply scans whatever is on the flatbed, Home mode offers some extra settings but with an eye on productivity, and Office mode has a wealth of options. All models include Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 (Windows) or 6.0 (Mac), as well as Abbyy FineReader Sprint Plus for optical character recognition (OCR). There are four customizable buttons on the front of the unit for scan-to-email, copy, and PDF creation.
